EUROPE/ITALY - September 23-24 in Rome, European medical experts meet for a presentation of the “Health and Child” project

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – On September 23-24, Rome's City Hall will host a meeting of the leading experts in everything from mathematics to medicine from Europe, for the presentation of the “Health and Child” project. Thanks to the progress of the latest technologies and most advanced knowledge in the area of bioethics, it is now possible to predict the possibility of a child's being infected with a certain disease years ahead of time, using certain factors and data, with the use of computer simulation, and administer a specific therapy. The most promising area of the implementation are, in fact, in the area of pediatrics, using it for treating problems of cardiology, rheumatology, and neuroncology.
The Pediatrics Hospital “Bambino Gesu” (Baby Jesus), which this year celebrates its 140th anniversary, has wished to focus on scientific activity directed toward the future and cooperation on a European level, focusing in particular on attention in the effort made with another 14 partners to carry out the Health and Child project, an integrated project for “information and communication technology for health,” aimed at implementing competent clinics and technologies, which have been received by the European Commission from among the projects of the last phase of the 6th Program. The workshops will be opened by the President of the Bambino Gesu Pediatrics Hospital, Giuseppe Profiti, and the Mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno. It will also be attended by the Vice-Minister of Health, Ferruccio Fazio, the President of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, and Joel Baquet, of the European Commission.
