ASIA/CHINA - Highlight of celebrations for Marian month of May in China: Feast of “Mary Help of Christians” at Dong Lu shrine

Dong Lu (Fides Service) - On May 24 feast of Our Lady help of Christians the Marian Shrine in Dong Lu, Hebei province was overflowing with pilgrims from many parts of China and overseas. As elsewhere in the world the feast of “Mary Help of Christians”, traditionally brings Chinese Catholics together. Thousands gathered for prayer of the Rosary and hymns. This year there were special festivities to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of “Mary Queen of China” Shrine at Dong Lu. The event took place during the Primum Concilium Sinense, of the Church in China under the guidance of the first Apostolic Delegate Archbishop Celso Costantini (later created Cardinal), who put made a solemn act of entrustment of China to the loving care of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
