Lima (Fides Service) - The Rosary is “nourishment for the Church’s evangelising mission” because it its from and contents it offers the praying person to experience the presence of God, Contemplating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ people come to realise that God is a God in love with his creatures. Filled with joy for this discovery the person is led to communicate this experience to others. This is how Bishop Norberto Strotmann, Bishop of the Peruvian diocese of Chosica and President of the Bishops’ Conference Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith underlines the fundamental role of the Rosary Prayer as a precious source of zeal to evangelise. The Bishop was speaking in an interview to Father Jaime Phalan, Peruvian Bishops’ National Delegate for Family Rosary Apostolate.
Bishop Strotmann, mentioned the “Ongoing evangelising mission” started by the local Church in Chosica in 1999 and he said “the most missionaries with most success are not the most learned but the ones who use the Rosary as means for Mission”. Speaking of his experience as Bishop he said: “In my diocese many people have little technical knowledge but they pray and so they evangelise with the Rosary and they are the ones whose missionary work is most fruitful. Instead of speeches and explanations on spiritual themes, what people need is to experience the living God and this is only possible through prayer ”. (R.Z.)
