Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples has (11 April 2003) appointed Rector of St Peter Apostle major seminary in Bangalore, India, Rev. Sebastian Periannan. The new Rector was born on 21 February 1958 in Venkatalam, Tamil Nadu. He studied at St Peter Apostle major seminary, Bangalore and was ordained a priest on May 3, 1984 for the diocese of Thanjavur. He has since worked as assistant priest and then parish priest in Thanjavur, at Radio Veritas as director, co-ordinator and producer of the Tamil Programme from 1989 to 1996. He has been on the staff of St Peter’s Seminary since then.. At present he is Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Head of the department of Communication Media.
