Honiara (Agenzia Fides) – The celebration of the Easter Triduum 2009 has been for the youth of the Solomon Islands, an opportunity to relive the spirit of intense prayer and joy that they lived in the recent World Youth Day in Sydney.
Youth from various parishes in Honiara organized the Mass and services on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, which were attended by hundreds of young people as well as adults and children.
The youth also organized a theatrical performance of the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross). The inhabitants of Honiara participated in the moving event and over 2,000 followed the entire trajectory that relived the Passion of Christ.
The climax of the events was the Easter Vigil Mass, which was celebrated outdoors and was followed by a festival with songs and dancing that reminded the youth of their days spent in Sydney at the WYD.
Easter Sunday was also a day of festivities for the Church youth groups on the Solomon Islands, who celebrated with the Word of God, prayer, and the joy of sharing in these celebrations. (PA) (Agenzia Fides 16/4/2009)
