Vatican City (Fides Service) - The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has, 29 April 2004, appointed Bishop of Buenaventura (Colombia) Reverend Father Héctor Epalza Quintero, P.S.S., until now Rector of the major seminary of the archdiocese of Manizales (Colombia).
The Bishop elect was born on 14 June 1940 at Convención, diocese of Ocaña. He was ordained a priest on 14 July 1965 for the archdiocese of Cali. He has Licentiates in Missiology and Church History from the Gregorian University in Rome. On 30 January 1989 he became a member of the Society of Priests of S. Sulpizio.
