AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - Rev. Pierre Claver Malgo new Rector of Saint John the Baptist Seminary in Ouagadougou

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples has 30 April 2004, appointed rector of the inter-diocesan Major seminary St John the Baptist in the diocese of Ouagadougou, in Burkina Faso, Reverend Father Pierre Claver Malgo, a member of the clergy of Koupéla archdiocese. The new Rector was born in 1954 at Dimistenga (Gounghin). He entered the seminary in 1968. He studied philosophy at Saint John Baptist seminary Wayalgé and theology at Saint Pierre Claver major seminary in Koumi. He was ordained a priest on 7 July 1984 at Gounghin. After serving for a time as assistant priest at Koupéla Cathedral, he obtained a licentiate in Biblical theology at the Catholic Institute of West Africa at Abidjan. Between 1991 and 1999 he was Professor at Saint Pierre Claver major seminary in Koumi. Then assistant priest (1999-2000) in Metz diocese in France, and since September 2000 he has been parish priest at Gounghin. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 11/5/2004; Righe 11; Parole 148)
