ASIA/INDIA Rev. Rethinam Vincent Mathias appointed rector of Inter-diocesan Christ Hall Seminary in Madurai

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples has, 30 April 2004, appointed rector of Inter-diocesan Christ Hall Seminary in the archdiocese of Madurai, India, Rev. Rethinam Vincent Mathias, of the diocesan clergy of Tiruchirapalli.
Rev. Rethinam Vincent Mathias was born in 1938 at Edanganni, Tamilnadu. He was ordained a priest on 21 December 1963 in Rome. He entered the seminary in 1953. He studied philosophy at St. Paul’s Seminary (1958/60) and the attended also Urban College in Rome (1960/64). He studied Liturgy and Catechetics at the Catholic University of Paris (1964/66). He has been: parish priest, diocesan and national YCW chaplain (diocese of Trichy), director of Diocesan Pastoral Centre, executive secretary of the Labour Commission of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India CBCI (Delhi), vicar general of Trichy diocese.
