New York (Agenzia Fides) - Franciscan Youth International has opened a web site under the aegis of the United Nations Programme on Youth. From today news, activities, and information on the Franciscan Youth International are available at http://www.franciscansinternational.org/fyi, produced by the NGO Franciscan International which represents the Franciscans at the Untied Nations with offices in New York and Geneva.
The site has different sections concerning Franciscan areas of commitment at the international level: peace building, fighting AIDS, eliminating poverty, sustainable development, disarmament, equality among sexes. The aim of the new web site is to increase awareness with regard to themes typical of the Franciscan charisma.
The site has a special section on projects launched by Franciscan groups in various parts of the world. It has offers updated news on activities and seminars organised by the United Nations Youth Programme. Franciscans International recently co-sponsored Party for Peace, a youth event in support of peace, sustainable development, and nuclear disarmament. The concert and rally, which was organised by the NGO Committee on Youth, took place at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza across from the United Nations Headquarters (PA) (Agenzia Fides 29/4/2004 lines 23 words 208)
