Rome (Fides Service) - “Children Helping Children”, the motto of the Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood, is the title of a CD-ROM with the song ‘Eccomi, manda me!’, performed by the ‘Le Matite Colorate’ children’s choir of Holy Cross in Jerusalem Basilica in Rome. The proceeds from the sale of the CD-ROM will go towards 5 solidarity projects to help children organised by Missionary Childhood.
The children of the ‘Le Matite Colorate’ choir are members of Missionary Childhood and the song ‘Eccomi, manda me!’ (Isaiah 6,8) was purposely composed by Father Luca Zecchetto, founder and artistic director of the choir who was inspired by a meeting with the Pope and Missionary Childhood members in St Peter’s Square last year June 14 2003, to mark the 160th anniversary of Missionary Childhood. The song is easy to sing, the music is intense, the words are simple and the message of serving others runs from heart to heart, country to country wherever there is need. With their song the ‘Le Matite Colorate’ singers take part in solidarity projects on each of the 5 continents of the world. The CD-ROM costs 10 Euro and 5 Euro will go to Missionary Childhood, 1 for each continent for the solidarity projects.
‘Eccomi, manda me!’CD-ROM includes the words of the song in various languages as well as an instrumental base so that everyone can become, ‘matita colorata’. An included video clip shows the happy pictures of the choir meeting the Pope as well as very sad pictures of children in difficult living conditions all over the world. There are details of the 5 projects as well as excerpts of Papal addresses to Missionary Childhood in the past 160 years.
‘Eccomi, manda me!’ is not only a song, or a slogan: the intention is to offer boys and girls an opportunity to become missionaries ready to build a better world. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 26/3/2004 - righe 25; parole 366)
