AFRICA/TANZANIA - Rector of Interdiocesan Seminary of Saint Anthony in Ntungamo, appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on June 13, 2008, named Fr. Vitus Mrosso, of the clergy of the Diocese of Moshi, Rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary of Saint Anthony in Ntungamo, Diocese of Bukoba (Tanzania).
The new Rector was born June 14, 1955 in Keni Mrere Mashati (Tanzania). After completing elementary school studies, he attended St. James Seminary (1971-76) for secondary school. He studied philosophy at Kibosho Major Seminary (1978-1979), and theology at Kipalapala Senior Seminary (1981-1984) and St. Thomas Seminary in Nairobi, Kenya (1984-1985). He was ordained a priest on July 14, 1985 in Moshi. He completed studies in the History of Christianity at Catholic University of East Africa in Nairobi (1992-1994). Following his ordination, he has ministered as follows: Vice-Pastor at Kibosho Parish (1985) and Marangu Parish (1994), Pastor of Marangu Parish (1995); Professor and formator (1986) and later, Vice-Rector (1987) at St. James Seminary; Professor at the Seminary in Ntungamo (1997) where, since January 28 2007, he carried out the duties of Rector.
