AMERICA/COLOMBIA - “Women in the Church and Society Today”: course on the anthropological, philosophical and theological aspects of women and their role in the Church and society

Bogota (Fides Service) - To “reflect on the dignity and mission of women in the Church and society, to promote pastoral and social processes with women’s active participation in building a more just and fraternal society ”, the Council of Latin American Bishops Conferences CELAM through the Theological Pastoral Institute for Latin America ITEPAL will hold a course on “Women in the Church and Society Today” 19 April to 14 May 2004, at ITEPAL
During the four week course three women theologians of Colombian and Brazilian nationality Isabel Corpus de Posada, Gory Suàrez and Sr. Barbara Bucker will give conferences and guide reflection. The first subject for analysis are the situations of the family, women and children in Latin America and the Caribbean. Other themes will be human rights and anthropological, philosophical and theological aspect of women. In this context the teaching of Pope John Paul II will be amply studied.
The course intends to offer elements for a better understanding of women in pastoral work and to give criteria to foster development of pastoral of women in the particular Church. In this sense the course intends to collect the experience and knowledge of the participants.
