Vatican City (Fides Service) - Corruption in business and politics, destination of company profits i, the cultural impact of advertising and marketing policies are some of the subjects for discussion during a Study Seminar in the Vatican 5-6 March organised by the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and the International Union of Christian Businessmen on the theme: “The businessman: social responsibility and globalisation”.
Participants will include about 70 businessmen, experts and university professors from 127 different countries. Other themes for discussion and reflection will include : social responsibility in direct investments in developing countries; treatment of employees in businesses in the present economic circumstances. This study Seminar on these subjects, crucial in business today, comes as the Pontifical Council is about to publish an awaited compendium of the fundamental principles of Catholic Social Teaching to compare them with present problems in business in this era of globalisation.
