Vatican City (Fides Service) - “Biblical Notes on Human Procreation” was the title of a paper given on 19 February by Cardinal Lozano Barragan, President of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Health Workers and the Sick, at the general assembly of the Pontifical Academy for Life. To illustrate the biblical and theological significance of human procreation the Cardinal started with the Book of Genesis passing then to other Old Testament Books and then to the New Testament where he highlighted Saint Paul’s reflection on the mystery of marriage. The Cardinal’s address was based mainly on the teaching of Pope John Paul II, particularly the Wednesday Audience teachings in the early years of the pontificate during which the Holy Father reflected at length on the mystery of the theme.
