OCEANIA/FIJI - Making music to announce the Gospel to Youth “We shall not give up”: CD ROM by young Salesian in the South Pacific

Suva (Fides Service) - Music is an excellent channel of evangelisation, particularly among young people: this is the conviction of Isaia Bourne a theology student who has just produced a CD called “We shall not give up”. The idea is to help young people not to give up when faced with the difficulties of life, to trust in God and put their talents at the service of the Kingdom of God. The initiative which is having success among young people has also caught the attention of the media. Only days ago, reporting on Isaia and his activity the National Fiji One TV newscaster said “The usually conservative Catholic Church has taken a new path with a CD of modern music called We shall not give up which is the title of one of the songs. The CD is a message from the Church to young people faced with the difficulties of the modern world”.
According to Salesian bulletin ANS Isaia Bourne, is known all over Fiji for is musical talent, and for his ability to promote and encourage others, young people especially to produce music and how music affected the development of his personal story. He discovered music at the parish run by Salesian fathers. With a group of young people he formed a choir and contacted a recording studios and found a local publisher to foot the bill. On 4 February the CD was officially presented with a concert in the parish church in front of an audience of over 800 people, several journalists and representatives of national media.
