Monday, 9 February 2004

Vatican City (Fides Service) – From 19 to 22 February 2004 the Pontifical Academy for Life PAV will hold a general assembly during which it will also mark the 10th anniversary of its institution. Members will reflect on the theme “The Dignity of human Procreation and Reproductive Techniques: Anthropological and Moral Aspects”. The opening day will be dedicated to marking the anniversary with three conferences: the first ten years PAV; commemorating the figure of Prof. Jérôme Lejeune, first President of PAV expert in genetics; Pope John Paul II’s teaching on human life. The day will close with a concert for orchestra and choir conducted by Mons. Marco Frisina.
The next three days will be dedicated to the work of the general assembly. The theme will be discussed from a multi-disciplinary viewpoint to illustrate the scientific, anthropological, theological, moral and juridical issues connected with artificial reproduction.
As every year the Assembly will issue a final statement on the findings and recommendations. The acts of the assembly will be published in Italian and English a few months later.
