Lima (Agenzia Fides) – With the celebration of the Great Mission of Lima, begun in the Archdiocese of Lima on April 28 of this year, the Archbishop offered the faithful a new edition of the “Minor Catechism.” This publication seeks to contribute to a better knowledge of the faith, as well as offer pastoral support for parish groups and religion classes in schools. It is also available for use by the general public, with 25,000 copies in print.
The Archbishop of Lima, Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani, emphasized the importance of the Minor Catechism as it will be a valuable instrument in strengthening the faith. “I sincerely hope that this Minor Catechism may continue to contribute to the supernatural efficiency of our pastoral work and that its contents are taught, so that children and young people may better understand and love Christ and the Church.”
The Minor Catechism in the Great Mission of Lima is a pastoral effort being made in union with Pope Benedict XVI’s appeak made at the Shrine of Our Lady of “Aparecida” in May 2007, at the opening of the 5th General Conference of the Bishops of Latin America and the Caribbean, where he encouraged them to begin a new evangelization through a “Great Continental Mission.” (RG) (Agenzia Fides 20/6/2008)
