AMERICA/COLOMBIA - Celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of the Bishops’ Conference is the main theme for the upcoming Plenary Assembly

Bogota (Agenzia Fides) – “The historical memory of the Colombian Bishops’ Conference in the celebration of its first centennial anniversary” will be the theme for the 85th Plenary Assembly of the Colombian Bishops’ Conference, which will take place June 29 – July 5 of this year.
The Assembly will begin June 29 with a pilgrimage of the Bishops, priests, and laity to the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary in Chiquinquira, home to the patroness of Colombia. The central theme will be the celebration of the first centennial anniversary of the creation of the Bishops’ Conference. During the Assembly, the President, Vice-President, and Secretary General of the Conference will also be appointed for a three-year term. This 85th Assembly will be attended by 90 Bishops and Archbishops, from the 76 ecclesial jurisdictions of Colombia. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 13/6/2008)
