ASIA/INDIA - CHRISTMAS 2003 MESSAGE OF “UNITY IN DIVERSITY”: GOA CHRISTMAS CONCERT OF SONGS IN SIX LANGUAGES FOR AN INTERRELIGIOUS AUDIENCE

Goa (Fides Service ) – This year in Goa the Christmas Concert will be polyphonic and multilingual. “We want to express unity in diversity, to show that the message of Christ is addressed to all men and women of all languages and races, said Alberto Barreto maestro of “Goa Coral Symphony”, which will give a Christmas concert at the Kala Academy in Goa.
Songs performed will be a variety of traditions and nations and in different languages: English, French, Latin, Spanish, Hindi and in Konkani the local language most widely spoken in Goa.
The members of Goa Coral Symphony, professional musicians and amateurs will perform for students and other people of all faiths, Muslims and Hindus are particularly welcome.
The local Church says the Christmas Concert will be an opportunity to launch a message of interreligious harmony and promote the values of love and brotherhood which Christ brought to the world. “We are happy to share our Christmas Concert with people of all religions and we hope that Christmas festivities will encourage sharing and unity among peoples of different faiths in an atmosphere of dialogue and reciprocal tolerance ” said young members of the choir.
