OCEANIA/AUSTRALIA - Missionary projects from all over the world on the website of PMS Australia

Wednesday, 7 May 2008

Sydney (Agenzia Fides) - Offer information on the most serious situations of a lack of food, education, and dignity; let all Internet-surfers, Catholic or not, of the need to make some kind of contribution to the lives of people in other places, in a spirit of universal brotherhood; display the over 100 aid projects that are being carried out by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in over 40 countries across the globe, thanks to contributions from donors. These are the objectives behind a new interactive map on the website of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Australia, available at www.catholicmission.org.au. The section includes statistics, facts, reflections, and information on the countries where the PMS is directly operating and is continually updated, in order to indicate the exact locations and progress of the projects.
There are three interest areas: “Children,” “Church Leaders,” and “Communities,” for readers to see the work that PMS is being able to do in directly serving the AIDS victims and orphans, as well as young seminarians and in youth education.
Local PMS leaders reiterate the fact that the projects constitute only “the tip of the iceberg of all the economic commitments PMS has in the world.”
The new campaign is the work of the new National Director of PMS in Australia, Martin Gerard Teulan. The Australian people have always responded with great generosity to the appeals for support that the PMS launches. Donations frequently arrive from non-Catholics, as well, who support the organization that has built up a positive reputation of confidence over the years.
