AFRICA/KENYA - FIRST AFRICAN GATHERING OF DON BOSCO FORMER PUPILS: AN IMPORTANT STEP

Nairobi (Fides/Ans) – The first ever African gathering of former Don Bosco pupils opened on 29 November at the YES Don Bosco Centre in Nairobi and closed on 4 December. With Alex Dockers, Vice President of the World Federation of Don Bosco Old Boys and Salesian Father Jeronimo Monteiro, World Delegate for Former Pupils, 65 participants from the following countries: Benin, Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda, focussed their reflection on the identity and mission of former Don Bosco pupils dwelling on certain fundamental points related with the structure and organisation of local premises. The meeting was held in a characteristic spirit of family and sense of belonging. Alex Dockers voiced great satisfaction for this first experience on the continent of Africa, which he described as an important for organisation all over the world. (S.L.)
