NATIONAL DELEGATES FOR UNIVERSITY PASTORAL MEET IN ROME (9/11 DECEMBER): EXPERIENCE SHARING AND REFLECTION ON HOW TO IMPROVE CHURCH COMMITMENT ON CAMPUS

Vatican City (Fides Service) – National delegates of University Pastoral Care are attending a meeting at the Pontifical Lateran University organised by the Council of the European Bishops’ Conferences CCEE 9-11 December. Participants include forty national delegates for University Pastoral, sent by various Bishops’ Conferences, 6 of them Bishops, charged with the responsibility for the spiritual care of students. The delegates will share experience of university pastoral in the different countries and discuss the drafting of a “Directory” to foster, encourage and sustain Church-University dialogue in Europe.
On Wednesday 10 December the participants will listen to a conference by Bishop Agostino Marchetto Secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant Peoples on: "The Pastoral Dimension of University Mobility in Europe" followed by a discussion. On Thursday 11 December the participants will visit the head offices of the Italian Bishops’ Conference. After listening to talks by Rev. Enrico Dal Covolo from the Pontifical Salesian University and Rev. Jose Luis Sánchez Secretary of the European Committee of University Chaplains they will discuss organisation plans for the 2nd European University Day 13 March 2004 with the theme: Christ hope for Europe : "Do not be afraid: I am the Living One" (Revelation 1,17 - 18).
