AMERICA/GUATEMALA - “Life and the Dignity of the Human Person” Congress April 3-5, organized by the Bishops’ Conference

Guatemala City (Agenzia Fides) - The Bishops’ Conference has organized the first “Life and the Dignity of the Human Person” Congress, scheduled to take place April 3-5 in the Major Seminary.
The Congress will begin at 6pm with a Mass presided by Bishop Pablo Vizcaino, President of the Guatemalan Bishops’ Conference, and concelebrated by the other Bishops of the country. On the 4th and 5th, there will be pro-life talks from 8 in the morning until 6 in the afternoon, with special guests including Cardinal Rodolfo Quezada Toruño, Fr. Thomas J. Euteneur, President of HLI, and Adolfo J. Castañeda, Director of Educational Programs for VHI (Vida Humana Internacional), as well as genetics specialist Dr. Alejandro Leal, President of the ADEVI, an organization that is affiliated with VHI in Costa Rica. Other international guests will also be present. Various Prelates of Dioceses will offer key-note speeches and there will also be testimonies from women who have had abortions, later repented and suffered the consequences of post-abortion syndrome, and who are now among the greatest pro-life activists. Some of the themes for the talks during the Congress are: In-vitro Fertilization; Stem-cells; Abortion, The Truth about Contraception, and Sexuality and Human Dignity.
There will be a march organized by the youth members of the pro-life movement at 6pm on Saturday, the 5th. The walk will begin at the Monument to Pope John Paul II in Avenida las Americas and will end at the Obelisk, where there will be a concert with a pro-life music group.
