AMERICA/GUATEMALA - TOWARDS 2ND AMERICAN MISSION CONGRESS CAM 2: MAJOR SUPERIORS OF AMERICAN MISSION INSTITUTES REFLECT ON THE PROGRESS BETWEEN CAM 1 AND CAM 2

Guatemala City (Fides Service) – On 22 and 23 November in Guatemala City there was a meeting of Superior Majors of America (SOMIVA). Father Antonio Camacho Muñoz, of the communications office of the Missionaries of Guadalupe told Fides that the purpose of the meeting was to reflect on progress made since CAM 1 held Parana in Argentina in 1999 and CAM 2 which will open in Guatemala City on November 25, and in particular to see the specific contribution offered by Missionary Institutes.
The meeting was a time of enriching sharing of missionary experience and work among the individual institutes, with special emphasis on the activity of lay missionaries. Institutes represented at the meeting included: Foreign Mission Society of the Province of Quebec, Scarboro Missionaries, Maryknoll Missionaries, Xaverian Missionaries of Yarumal, Missionaries of Pastoral Charity and the Missionaries of Guadalupe, who hosted the event.
