AFRICA/MADAGASCAR - Appointment of Rector of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Major Theological Interdiocesan Seminary in Antananarivo

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect for the Congregation of the Evangelisation of Peoples, on November 30, 2007 appointed Fr. Jean de la Croix Rasolo Arson, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Antananarivo, Rector of the Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Major Theological Interdiocesan Seminary.
The new Rector was born January 19, 1957 in Ankazondandy, Madagascar, and was ordained a priest August 14, 1998 for the diocese of Antsirabe. He studied in the minor seminary of Mandaniresaka of Antsirabe (1970/78) and later served one year in the military. He studied philosophy and theology in the major seminary in Ambatoroka. He earned a licentiate in Theology (1988/89) in the institute for higher studies in theology in Ambatoroka, and in the Pontifical University Urbaniana in Rome he earned a doctorate in Dogmatic Theology (1998/2003). He has since ministered has follows: assistant pastor and pastor, head of the Catholic bookstore in Antsirabe, member of the formation team in Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Major Seminary, and professor of Dogmatic Theology in the same.
