Bogota (Agenzia Fides) - “ The mission of women in the Church and in Society” is the theme for the 84th plenary assembly of the Bishops' Conference of Colombia to be held in Bogota from 28 January 28 to February 1. The Assembly will be inaugurated by the new Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Aldo Cavalli, and the Swedish Ambassador Legna Nordstrom. Some 90 bishops representing the 76 ecclesiastical jurisdictions of Colombia will be taking part.
During the assembly Ana M. Pereira and Rosa Emilia Salamanca will present a report on “The socio-political and cultural situation of women in Colombia”. This will be followed by a conference “Woman, a form of human life. Anthropological considerations”, given by Maria Cristina di Hidalgo, and a series of panel discussions and work groups according to region of origin.
