AMERICA/ECUADOR - “Padre Carlos Crespi national communications award” restores human and Christian values in communications

Guayaquil (Agenzia Fides) - On Thursday 24 January the feast of Saint Francis de Sales, Patron saint of journalists, Signis-Ecuador Association of Catholic Communicators will present the national communications award to the winners of the 3rd Padre Carlos Crespi Prize for outstanding efforts to tell the stories of “Builders of Life” and promote reflection on the situation in the country and to build a society of more justice and solidarity.
The head of the Ecuadorian Bishops' Commission for Communications, Archbishop Antonio Arregui Yarza of Guayaquil said the Padre Carlos Crespi Award offers “a word of hope for those who have not abandoned their creativity or allowed themselves be influenced by irresponsible relativism”. In a message to the leading members of Signis-Ecuador, the Archbishop said the award “is recognition of work of social communication and its responsibility towards society which it is called to serve. The Padre Carlos Crespi is a resources used by important sectors of communications to promote products which diffuse values proper to a human life worth living” said Archbishop Arregui Yarza.
During the presentation ceremony there will be discussion on the theme “Communications, builder of life” with interventions by Mgr. Jaime Bravo, general secretary adjunct of the Bishops' Conference of Ecuador. With this activity, Signis-Ecuador seeks to restore human and Christian values to communications.
