EUROPE/ITALY - VOLUNTARY WORK AND SOCIAL COOPERATION IN A WORLD IN MOVEMENT: HOSPITALLER BROTHERS ASSOCIATION OUTREACH TO DISTANT SICK CONFERENCE

Roma (Fides Service) - Solidali con la solidarietà, volontari con il volontariato is the slogan launched by the Genzano section of AFMAL – Hospitaller Brothers Association Outreach to Distant Sick – on the occasion of a Conference on VOLUNTARY WORK AND SOCIAL COOPERATION IN A WORLD IN MOVEMENT on 8 November. Various associations of voluntary work are expected to attend.
Numerous association of the area of the Castelli Romani including the St John of God Institute (Fatebenefratelli), and Rome were contacted and invited to attend: get to know each other and make oneself known is the purpose of the Conference to outline common lines of action in activity of solidarity in various fields of action.
Among the participating groups Comunità di Sant’Egidio, which has years of experience in assisting tramps and mentally sick persons; CEIS, a community which specialises in treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts; Associazione Tuscolana per una Società di uguali, an association of parents with disabled children; Escola Irma – Giuliana Galli, who organise adoption at a distance; and many others.
A wealth of experience important for AFMAL, engaged in assistance for developing health care. AFMAL was established in 1979. In 1995 it was added to the list of associations officially recognised by the Italian Foreign Ministry and the European Union. It promoted, organises and runs health care and social development projects: these are often integrated interventions in collaboration with NGOs and humanitarian associations in the sectors of healthcare, agriculture, education and formation.
The Genzano section is particularly sensitive to works of solidarity and helping the weakest members of society, taking daily care of persons with physical or mental disabilities. (AP) (7/11/20023 Fides Service; lines: 27; words: 289)
