ASIA/PAKISTAN - GOVERNMENT NATIONAL EDUCATION AWARD 2003 GOES TO CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR FOR HIS WRITINGS “SOURCE OF SOCIAL HARMONY”

Islamabad (Fides Service) –Mehboob Sada Francis, a Catholic, for 28 years professor of literature at Allama Iqbal University in Islamabad, has been awarded the Minority Cultural Prize 2003 by the Pakistan government.
Presenting the award, which includes the sum of 50,000 Rupees, the minister of education said that Prof. Francis’ “works are a great source of social harmony in the country”.
Prof. Francis is a member of both the Pakistan Association of Christian Authors and the Southern Asian Association of Christian Authors. His articles and historical books have been published by various newspapers and magazines in Pakistan.
One of his most well known books is “Blood has only one colour”, on interreligious relations and dialogue. In this book and his other works Prof. Francis reveals his wide knowledge and experience of modern matters and tendencies in Pakistan’s society. He is also known for his widely read books of poetry.
