AMERICA/PERU - “Bio-ethics at the service of human dignity”: Cusco archdiocese hold 1st seminar

Lima (Agenzia Fides) - The archdiocese of Cusco has organised 29 and 30 October a seminar on the theme “Bio-ethics at the service of human dignity”, to discuss scientific progress and the consequences for basic human rights.
Speakers at the event, organised by the health commission of the archdiocese, will include experts in the field, including Sr María Pilar Bandrés Sánchez, Master in Bio-ethics and Chile University and internist at Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital; Fr Luis Eduardo Ayala Falla, who has a degree in Bio-ethics; Guillermo Benavente Ercilla, social analyst of the Peruvian Bishops' Conference an expert in anthropology and philosophy; Sr Sandra Inés Flores Rivera, surgeon and a member of the executive secretariat of the Peruvian Bishops commission for health pastoral.
The purpose of the Seminar is to, “lay emphasis on the commitment of the Catholic Church to ensure that scientific research always respects human dignity”.(AP) (29/10/2007 Agenzia Fides; Righe:18; Parole:162)
