VATICAN - THE HOLY FATHER APPOINTS FIVE NEW ORDINARY MEMBERS OF THE PONTIFICAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCE

Vatican City (Fides Service) – Pope John Paul II has appointed today five new ordinary members of the Pontifical Academy of Science: Prof. Antonio García-Bellido, from Spain, Professor of Genetics at the Severo Ochoa Molecule Biology Centre of the Autónoma University in Madrid; Prof. Fotis C. Kafatos, from Greece, Professor of Molecule Biology at Harvard University (U.S.A.) and the Universities of Athens and Crete; Prof. Tsung-Dao Lee, born in Shanghai (China), Professor of Physics Columbia University, New York (U.S.A.); Prof. Ryoji Noyori, from Japan, Professor of Organic Chemistry at Nagoya University, Nagoya (Japan); Prof. Kevin Ryan, from the United States, Professor and former director of the Center for the Advancement of Ethics and Character of Boston University (U.S.A.).
