Roma (Agenzia Fides) - “The Church is missionary because it walks in step with humanity” says Rev Denis Kibangu Malanda in a video “All the Churches for all the World ” produced by Missio - Pontifical Mission Societies, part of the material prepared to illustrate the contents of World Mission Sunday this year. The DVD is an interesting documentary story on five local Churches in different parts of the world starting with the parish of Santa Maria Goretti a Villalba di Guidonia, near Roma, where the parish priest Rev Denis Kibangu Malanda, from Democratic Congo now a missionary in Italy. From Italy the next image is from Peru with the smiling face of Jacek Kilsowski, a young Polish volunteer lay missionary who has been working in Lima among street children for seven years. With other volunteers he opened a home for abandoned children. Mr and Mrs Maurizio and Novella Fanton, share their experience as Fidei Donum lay missionaries sent by the diocese of Padova to Quito in Ecuador. And then we see Sr Jill Horsefield, a medical doctor missionary who cares for people with AIDS in Korogocho slums and Fr Alberto Brignoli, Fidei Donum priest from Bergamo, with years of experience in Bolivia, founder of Paradiso Community where priests are formed for exchange between Churches.
Among the many initiatives organised by the Pontifical Mission Societies in view of Mission Sunday we mention:, Fr Ciro Biondi, national secretary of the Pontifical Missionary Union and St Peter Apostle Mission Society, had a meeting at Perugina-Città della Pieve diocesan Mission Centre with more than 1,000 mission pastoral workers from Stigmatine parishes in Italy, from the local diocese and from the diocese of Monreale.
