ASIA/VIETNAM - The Pope appoints Bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, on 12 October 2007, appointed Rev. Joseph Dang Duc Ngan, as Bishop of Lang Són et Cao Bang (Viêt Nam). Until now Rev Joseph Dang Duc Ngan was vicar general of the archdiocese of Hà Nôi and parish priest at the cathedral.
Rev. Joseph Dang Duc Ngan was born 16 June 1957 in Hà Nôi. He studied at Hà Nôi major seminary (1981-1987), and at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome (1994-1999). He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1987. Since then he has ministered as follows: parish priest at Thuong Thuy and Co Nhue (1988-1993), secretary of the Bishop's Residence (1999-2002), Professor at Hà Nôi major seminary (since 1999), Secretary of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam (since 2000), Vicar episcopal (2001-2003).
