The Catholic Church in India continues to give special attention to social questions, offering its unique contribution to promoting moral and civil growth and the development and prosperity of the nation. In this endeavour lay Catholics are encouraged to take an ever more active part in civil society, the world of culture and in politics in order to spread Christian values of peace and love and Catholic Social Teaching in sectors decisive for the life of the society.
In keeping with the Christian message they are called to promote as basic criteria for action in society is respect for every human person.
