VATICAN - Bambino Gesù children's hospital in Rome recruits biomedical researchers: 600 applicants for 17 places

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Bambino Gesù children's hospital in Rome is looking for o 17 young researchers to be chosen from 600 candidates in an international recruitment programme in the field of biomedical research.
Motivated young researchers with an excellent CV and experience in research in the field of medical care for children. This is the common denominator of the 17 young researchers to be recruited at home and abroad from the beginning of next year after careful and professional selection among 587 CV presented at the Bambino Gesù. 3rd Research Fellowship Program three year cycle (2008-2010)
In the two previous editions 91 young researchers were chosen and introduced to the section for research at the Hospital. 513 Italian researcher candidates; 28 Italians abroad and 46 non Italians applied for the posts.
Of the 587 researchers including 448 women, 46 non Italians and 28 Italians working abroad. In the next few years to new researchers will work on various programmes: identification of still unknown causes of many disease which affect children; advanced methods of early diagnosis; application of new therapies; innovative therapeutic paths using adult stem cells in keeping with the bio-ethic and scientific norms of the Catholic Bambino Gesù Hospital.
The selection was announced in scientific magazines such as The Lancet and Nature, and in the Italian press. Applications were made online at the Bambino Gesù Hospital Portal during the Summer. (AP) (2/10/2007 Agenzia Fides; Righe:31; Parole:326)
