Saturday, 15 September 2007

Melbourne (Agenzia Fides) - To live the event of World Youth Day 2008 to the full, take an active part, share with other young people the news of God's love for all peoples: it was in this spirit that a group of pupils of seven Catholic schools recently attended Salesian Schools Leadership Camp, held near Melbourne. The pupils came from schools in New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria.
In the typical Salesian spirit the days were marked by joyful meeting, experience sharing , prayers and learning with a series of activities, lessons, practical demonstrations, games, and learning new abilities. Themes for reflection included: Salesian animation, Don Bosco, the figure of the animator as a Shepherd, leadership in activities, the ability to communicate, team work and the leader as a servant.
The pupils met for daily Mass and prayed and expressed hopes for a fruitful WYD 2008. According to the Salesian bulletin ANS, in preparation for the 23rd World Youth besides formation experience schools and Salesian centres all over the Australia-Pacific region are holding courses and events for awareness building and spiritual reflection centred on the theme youth to youth mission.
