AFRICA/BURKINA FASO - Three local Camillian priests ordained: “Your chose us Lord to serve your presence”

Friday, 7 September 2007

Ouagadougou (Agenzia Fides) - This was the verse on the invitation to the ordination of nine new priests in the diocese of Koudougou on, by curious providential coincidence, the 7th of the 7th , 2007. Seven has always been a magic, mysterious number rich in symbology in the Bible from in Creation in Genesis, to the breaking of the 7 seals in Revelation. Seven are the Sacraments, the gifts of the Spirit, seven are the capital sins. The candle holder with 7 candles, (Menorah), symbol of faith which burns for ever. And seven are the colours of the rainbow, the plagues of Egypt, the works of mercy …
Koudougou, provincial capital of Boulkiemdé and the central west region, 75 km west of Ouagadougou, capital del Burkina Faso, is a community of mainly Mossi ethnic people. It is a young diocese created in 1947 governed since 1984 by Bishop Basile Tapsoba. The three new Camillian priests Lazare, Luc and Bernard were among nine priests ordained some diocesan others religious.
Luc was born in Koudougou, whereas Lazare and Bernard are originally from Cote d'Ivoire. Coming from different paths and at different times they all wish to become ever more similar to Christ the High Priest. They have already said yes to God in the Camillian family drawn by Camillo and the example of his sons witnesses of divine mercy in Africa. Now with this second yes they are consecrated (by the Father), constituted (by the Son) for mankind and for the things of God (animated by the Holy Spirit) (Heb 5,1). The liturgy was celebrated in French, Moorè, Nuni, Lyélé and Bissa. (GA/AP) (7/9/2007 Agenzia Fides; Righe:24; Parole:271)
