Czestochowa (Agenzia Fides) – The latest issue (January-February 2010) of the Polish Catholic children's bimonthly "My Rainbow Newspaper" ("Moje Tęcza Pismo"), is dedicated to the presentation of the missionary theme. The magazine contains a missionary catechesis, reflections on the work of missionaries in the world and the presentation of missionary themes in the form of board game. The paper, prepared and printed by the Catholic Weekly "Niedziela", the most popular Catholic magazine in Poland with headuqarters in Czestochowa, also presents the initiatives of the Holy Childhood Association. In particular, their Christmas campaign, which began on December 26 and will end with the Solemnity of the Epiphany, January 6, 2010, during which members of the Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood in Poland will make every effort to help, both materially and spiritually, children of Pakistan (see Fides 19/12/2009). In the latest edition of the magazine also presents the initiative of the " Star Singers," which is now spreading to different countries.
Among the proposals for promoting the pastoral missionary theme among children and young people, the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa have recently prepared a CD with songs dedicated to the missions of the Church. Among the 14 songs on the CD is also the anthem of the PMS "We open our hearts." The CD was prepared by the "Missio" Band under the direction of Fr. Jacek Gancarek, Director of the PMS and Delegate of the Archbishop of Czestochowa for the Missions. "The PMS of the Archdiocese of Czestochowa are promoting the theme with several missionary and pastoral initiatives using the various tools of evangelization, including Christian music,” Fr. Jacek Gancarek told Fides. “The youth of today are the generation of the computer and CDs, and we, in our pastoral activity, must be responsive to their needs, including cultural ones."
